Chest pain is a scary and sometimes misleading condition to experience. Often, people who are experiencing chest pain don't go to the emergency room because they are worried "it's just nothing." But, chest pain is a serious circumstance that warrants medical care--coronary heart disease is the largest major killer of American males and females.
Saint Mary's Chest Pain Center is located in the emergency department and serves to provide a higher level of care for any patient suffering from chest pain. The center serves as a triage point to quickly diagnose and treat chest pains. It improves the clinical process for the early assessment, diagnosis and treatment of acute coronary syndromes. This model also brings together diverse medical specialties such as EMS, emergency medicine, and cardiology, together with clinicians, hospital administration, and quality improvement professionals.
