While all eyes are on the Obama-Biden transition, all ears are listening to what's being said in discussions about health care.  Doctors across the country, including right here in Reno, were chosen by the president-elect to lead a discussion about the worries of the health care system,  and how to improve it.

"My husband unexpectedly became disabled five years ago. We don't have health insurance," Connie Schmidt of Sparks says. Schmidt and her husband are running out of options when it comes to affording health care. "The job that I have--I lost. I didn't have health insurance with that."

The two need medical services and it has been expensive. She says they've cut every corner. They aren't alone. "I am one of the uninsured," one man said.

Monday night, many came to the Grand Sierra Resort to hear what others had to say about the tough economic times and the problems that lie in health care.

"My goal is to try and listen to people. What they're looking for to make a difference," Dr. Richard Fleming says.

Dr. Fleming is helping the Obama-Biden team make a difference. He along with other doctors across the country have been asked by the president-elect to find out what's on the minds of Americans when it comes to health care.

"There are so many people who have problems entering emergency rooms who can't get the basic issues taken care of, reasons including insurance issues," Dr. Fleming adds.

Dr. Fleming is proposing, the Access to Health Care Act. The act would focus primarily on emergency care to everyone no matter what their socio-ecomic status is. He wants Nevada to take the lead in health care.

"If we're going to be a country that says we care about our people. We need to actually be able to prove that we care about it," Dr. Fleming says.

When it comes to caring about health care many are hoping this is the right step in a new Obama-Biden administration.

"This is an issue right now and he needs to think about that. You know, and I hope he does come through not just for me. But, there is a lot of people who are suffering," Schmidt says.
