Researchers are launching a $21 million study to determine the impacts of a warming climate on Nevada's water supply.
The five-year project will involve scientists from the Desert Research Institute, the University of Nevada, Reno, the University of Nevada, Las Vegas and Nevada State College.
They say they hope their findings can be used to help guide decisions by land and water managers.
Among other things, scientists will study the impacts of a warming climate on the Colorado River that provides Las Vegas with its water and the Sierra snowpack so important to Reno.
