There could soon be some new job opportunities opening up in Reno.
The National Jeweler website is reporting that Zalemark Holding Company is buying the remaining assets of Gems TV and plans to launch its own home shopping network in Reno later this summer or this fall.
Gems TV was a Reno-based home shopping jewelry network that went out of business last spring. When it closed it put a reported 120-150 local people out of work. That was after the company had already eliminated a large number of positions.
The article says the new network would be called LuxTV. There's no word yet how many people the new company would employ.
National Jeweler quotes Steven Zale, the design director of Zalemark, as saying that very soon his company expects to complete the purchase of the television studio and equipment that once belonged to Gems TV.
The article also states that LuxTV will be run by president Matt Chao who will be based out of Gems TV's former headquarters in Reno.
