Nine Nevada counties, involved in geo-thermal production, want Congress to repeal a provision in a bill that could cost them millions of dollars.
Officials say the Energy Policy Act of 2005 gave counties a 25% share of revenues to deal with impacts of the geothermal activity.
But the recent passage of the 2010 Interior Department appropriations bill would re-direct the counties' share of revenue back to the federal government.
Senator Harry Reid and Congressman Dean Heller have already introduced bills to repeal the provision.
