Reno police are investigating an attempted murder in Stead that happened Wednesday evening.
According to Det. Mike Whan, it happened at the Sierra Shadows Mobile Home Park on Panamint Drive around 10pm.
Police say a husband and wife in one of the mobile homes were fighting when the husband tried to strangle his wife and then stabbed her in the neck.
She was able to escape the home and get someone to take her to Renown where she is in critical condition but expected to live.
Police spent the night searching the neighborhood for the suspect but he is still at large. They believe he took his two young children, both 3 and 5 years old.
Detectives believe he couldn't have gone far because he does not have access to a car.
