Dreamer’s Coffee Shop to Close Sunday Night

Dreamer’s Coffee Shop (inside the old Riverside Hotel) is getting ready to serve its last customer Sunday night. 

The owner says a rent hike coupled with the tough economy left him no choice but to shut down. 

Dan Hamilton is one of seven employees losing his job. “You go to a coffee shop and you kind of identify with it. You go to three or four and pick one out that you really like. We’re part of the artist’s loft here, we’ve got a nice, people watching view out front. It’s a greats spot in downtown Reno so I think people are gonna be bummed out about it.” 

The owner says he wants to continue to be part of the community so he’s looking for another place to relocate. He says he has the equipment and furniture, but just now needs some investors. 

News that Dreamer’s could open again is a relief to loyal customers. “If it were 60 blocks away or 60 miles away I’d come here because, the atmosphere is very warming. There are other coffee shops, you know they, they just don’t have what Dreamer’s has and it’s warming.” 

Dreamer’s will close Sunday at 8pm.
