Dating Services Boom During Tough Economic Times

Some people find a way to shop during these tough economic times, others are more focused on finding 'The One.'

Marla and Russell Cox met through the dating service, "It's Just Lunch."

The got married two years later, and now have a six-month-old girl.

The two said they were both frustrated with the dating scene, and investing in this dating agency is the best thing they've ever done. "At first you thought, 'wow, this is a lot of money' when you started but it's really a lot of fun."

The agency charges between $500 and $1,300 to help match you up with potential dates.

President and C.E.O., Jenifer Rose, said she has seen her cliental double over the past few months, which surprised her at first given the tough economic times. "People believe it's a good investment even if it's a stretch for them financially."

Relationship experts say having a healthy companionship can make tough economic times less stressful.

Dr. Michael Freda, a marriage and counseling therapist, said he's not surprised by the booming trend in the world of dating service. "It's very helpful to have somebody. Not that they can do anything about it but just able to verbalize get it off their chest."

The Reno office of "It's Just Lunch" currently has about 600 active members.

The company, which started in 2001, now operates about 100 locations worldwide.
