Local law enforcement from eight agencies hit the streets today tracking down domestic violence offenders.
It's part of a 2-day effort to hand out arrest warrants and temporary protection orders.
Authorities say the hardest part of their job is finding suspects who may not be around anymore. "Some of the warrants were kind of old. The places that we search are temporary rentals and people have moved on," said Reno Police Detective Josh Watson.
Watson says the sweeps are critical because it can give them clues and contact information for future arrests. "It's not just something that gets reported and put on the side. We make the efforts to go out and find the suspects, no matter how long it takes."
The sweep coincides with October National Domestic Violence Month.
Agencies involved include the Reno Police Department, Washoe County Sheriff's Office, Sparks Police Department, Reno Municipal Court Marshals, the Sparks Municipal Court Marshals, the Washoe County District Attorney's Office, Reno City Attorney's Office and the Nevada Attorney General's Office.
Over the two day sweep, authorities made 30 arrests. But since the first of the month, 175 domestic violence suspects have been taken off the streets.
