SAN DIEGO (AP) - San Diego police are looking for a robbery suspect who escaped police custody while he was on his way to be booked. U-T San Diego says the handcuffed man ran through an opening in a gate after he exited a patrol car at Central Jail. Officials say the gate was opening for another police car. Officers gave chase but lost him near a trolley stop. The suspect was identified as 21-year-old Angelo Paschall.

FONTANA, Calif. (AP) - Police say a man who bit off a woman's fingertip during fight in Fontana is free on bail. The Riverside Press-Enterprise reports that Juan Carlos Gomez of Fontana was jailed on suspicion of stalking, assault and mayhem. Police say during a fight, Gomez attempted to choke a man and the woman intervened. That's when police say the suspect bit the woman's finger off "just above the last knuckle."

GLENDALE, Calif. (AP) - All lanes are open again on the westbound 134 Freeway in Glendale following a multi-vehicle collision that backed traffic up for miles. The CHP says the crash happened east of the northbound 2 Freeway around 5:20 a.m. Four of the five lanes were shut down as crews removed an overturned van.

BAY ST. LOUIS, Miss. (AP) - Private space exploration firm SpaceX and the Stennis Space Center have cut the ribbon on an improved rocket engine test stand. Based in Hawthorne, SpaceX is supposed to conduct initial testing this year of its new Raptor engines, which will be powered by methane and liquid oxygen. Stennis is in Mississippi.
