HAWTHORNE, Nev. (AP) - A 4.2 magnitude earthquake shook rural central Nevada, but there are no reports of damage.
Seismologists at the University of Nevada, Reno say the quake struck at 4:13 a.m. Friday in Mineral County, between Hawthorne and Gabbs.
The area is sparsely populated.
Scientists say it occurred about 5 miles below the surface, along the Benton Springs fault system.
