CARSON CITY, Nev. (AP) - A state panel will consider a 5-year lease to move state insurance division offices from a pigeon infested office building that has made some workers sick.
Pigeons were found in the division's leased building on Fairview Drive about a month ago. A chemical spray was used and the heating and cooling system was replaced.
But about 75 workers reported feeling sick, and the governor's office shut down the office Wednesday. Administrators don't know if the ill-effects were caused by the birds or chemicals.
Workers are being shuffled to other state buildings until the new office on East College Parkway is ready Oct. 1.
The Board of Examiners will consider the $1.7 million lease when it meets Friday in Carson City.
