One in four homes in Nevada is in distress; foreclosure is imminent.  If you elect to go through mediation, it might not only buy you some time, it could also lead to a compromise with your bank.

Verise Campbell launched the Foreclosure Mediation Program, which the 2009 Nevada Legislature created.  If a homeowner receives a Notice of Default, they have the option of using a mediator to negotiate with their bank.  Campbell says since the program's inception exactly one year ago, some 9,000 Nevadans have gone through it.  She even touted an 85% success rate, including home loan modifications.
