LOS ANGELES (AP) - Authorities say an off-duty Los Angeles County Sheriff's deputy shot and wounded a man during an altercation outside a Boyle Heights restaurant.
Sheriff's Department spokesman Steve Whitmore says the deputyÂ’s girlfriend was jumped by several women when she went to the restaurantÂ’s bathroom early Saturday. When the deputy attempted to come to her aid, several men confronted him.
The altercation spilled outside, where the deputy shot 1 of the suspects in the chest.
The wounded man is hospitalized in stable condition.
The deputy was not injured. His name was not released.
Whitmore says three suspects are in custody.
