ELY, Nev. (AP) - A Sept. 13 trial date has been set for an Ely woman charged with open murder in the death of a friend.
Penny Bartlett has pleaded not guilty in Ely District Court.
The 32-year-old Bartlett is accused of killing Teresa Gamboa on Aug. 23 on U.S. Highway 93 near Lages Junction.
White Pine sheriff's deputies believe an argument broke out between the women in a vehicle. A knife was taken into evidence.
Gamboa was pronounced dead at the scene.
Bartlett was arrested on Sept. 7 after being released from a Salt Lake City hospital, where she was treated for wounds.
Bartlett is being held in jail without bail.
