RENO, Nev. (AP) - The ice skating rink in downtown Reno will close for a few hours Thanksgiving Day because of daytime temperatures forecast to reach around 60 degrees.
City officials say the rink, which opened Wednesday night, will be open from 10 a.m. to noon. It will be closed from noon to 4 p.m., and then reopen for night skating until 10 p.m.
Officials say closing the rink during the warmest part of the day will ensure a good base and safe ice skating conditions through the weekend, when temperatures are expected to drop to more seasonable levels.
