The holiday spirit was alive and well in northwest Reno Friday.
Sala Family Dentistry offered a free day of dentistry for those in need of care off Summit Ridge drive in northwest Reno.
And even with the wind blowing the demand was huge. "For the most part people are hanging in there. I brought a few extra coats and handed them out to people," says Barbara Bushnell.
The dentists inside did fillings, extractions, and cleaned teeth for 40 people before lunch time.
For owner Jason Sala this is one part of his job he loves. "My very first patient gave me a bear hug and started crying. And it was a man. And I usually don't brag about man and bear hugs, but this was pretty cool. It almost brought me to tears as well."
A new report says one third of Americans don't have dental coverage. Probably one of the main reasons why the office had more than 225 people waiting in line for care.
