VENTURA, Calif. (AP) - Ventura police say officers shot and killed an armed man in an industrial park after he evaded police for 14 hours.
Department spokesman Sgt. Jack Richards says the domestic violence suspect was shot dead Sunday afternoon when he exchanged fire with officers. No police were hurt.
Richards says officers received a call at about 10:30 p.m. Saturday night about a man wanted in a Simi Valley domestic violence case and surrounded him in industrial and farm land in Ventura at about 3:30 a.m. Sunday.
He hid from police in various yards and on roofs until about 12:30 p.m. when he was spotted and traded shots with officers. He was declared dead at the scene.
The name of the suspect and the officers who fired on him were not immediately released.
