Sparks Police say Kristoffer Prinz, 24, drifted off the roadway early Saturday morning, smashing into a transformer and causing a power outage.
Authorities say Prinz, for unknown reasons, left the road in the area of Vista Boulevard and Alpland Lane around 2:36 am Saturday. Prinz was not wearing his seatbelt and was thrown from his truck and suffered deadly injuries.
NV Energy says the accident knocked out power to 6,856 houses, businesses and other customers for an hour and a half.
Sparks police investigators say it's not yet known if alcohol contributed to the crash. If you saw the wreck, you're asked to call Secret Witness at 322-4900.
