Missing GOP ballots finally counted in NV

Associated Press - October 31, 2009 5:35 PM ET

RENO, Nev. (AP) - Eighteen months later, all delegate ballots from a recessed Nevada state GOP convention have finally been counted.

A group of disaffected Republicans say they feel vindicated after a Friday night count of missing ballots from the April 2008 gathering showed three delegates for U.S. Rep. Ron Paul should have been sent to the national convention.

Ballots for national convention delegates from the state's 2nd Congressional District were not counted at last year's convention. The district was allowed to choose 3 of the state's 34 delegates.

The 2008 convention was recessed after Paul supporters won a rule change that allowed them to vote Paul delegates to the convention.

Party leaders say the count will have no real impact, but they hope it brings closure to Paul supporters.
