The University of Nevada marching band faced being cut from the school's budget last year. But now the band will play on thanks to fans.
The Athletic Department is adding a $5 surcharge to season tickets for football and men's basketball games and just a $1 surcharge per single game ticket.
The surcharge should raise about $50,000 a year for the ‘Pride of the Sierra.'
Wolf Pack Associate Athletic Director Keith Hackett tells Channel 2 most of the fans don't mind the extra charge. He says the permanent surcharges should keep the band despite budget cuts.
