It was a somber homecoming Thursday for a local soldier killed in Iraq earlier this month.
A flag draped coffin carrying 24-year-old Army Specialist Jeremiah McCleery arrived in Reno.
McCleery was one of two soldiers killed May 2nd in an attack by two Iraqi soldiers
McCleery was from Portola, California. His father lives in Sparks.
A family friend says Jeremiah wanted to be in the military as a youngster. "You know it was really a lifelong goal to join the military and serve his country. He was a very patriotic young man and really believed in serving your country and doing what was right," says Dan Church.
Church says he was honored to see a big crowd of civilians along with members from the Patriot Riders Motorcycle Club.
