Marin County high school to close due to swine flu

Associated Press - May 3, 2009 8:44 PM ET

MILL VALLEY, Calif. (AP) - Marin County officials say Tamalpais High School will be closed after a student was identified with a confirmed case of swine flu.

Marin County Public Health Officer Dr. Fred Schwartz announced on Sunday that the school will remain closed at least through Wednesday. The county reports it has four confirmed cases of the H1N1 flu virus; the California Department of Public Health lists two confirmed cases, and two probable cases in the county.

Schwartz says the student and a 35-year-old Novato man have confirmed cases of swine flu.

The high school is the second in the county to close. On Friday, officials closed Bahia Vista Elementary School in San Rafael.
