Nevada Lawmakers Consider Revising Smoking Ban

State legislators are considering getting rid of the Nevada Clean Indoor Air Act as we currently know it.

On Monday, lawmakers introduced a bill in the Senate that would essentially do away with the ban by allowing separate smoking areas in public places and in bars that serve food where smoking currently isn't allowed.

The American Lung Association contends the move would be detrimental to the health of Nevadans.

Voters approved the smoking ban in 2006 on a ballot initiative.

The Senate Judiciary Committee will hold a hearing on this new bill next Friday morning.
